Literally the best restaurant I've been to, I would come back to Chicago just to eat here
We had a late reservation and when we arrived, The Grill was packed and with no one appearing to want to vacate their tables. During our 1 1/2 hour wait, the staff offered profuse apologies, complimentary drinks and hors d'ouevres and, at the end of the meal desserts on the house. Although a possible tactic on the house's part would have been to request that the party occupying "our" table move to the bar with a round on the house, it's hard to argue with the resultant compensation to us. Drinks and food were excellent and the visit to the "private" bar downstairs afterward was fun.
3.5 Stars.   I had high hopes for the Frontera Grill as it has been on our bucket-list for a very long time.  We had the tortilla soup, chicken taquito appetizer, chicken (mole) enchilada and the carnitas.   Taquito:  very mild. The chicken had great flavor by itself but was lost when eaten as a taquito. Tortilla Soup.   This was my favorite item.  I'd give the soup a 4.5 star rating. Imagine French onion soup having a baby with Mexican chicken enchiladas. MMMM.    I liked it best with a squeeze of lime. My husband liked it better without the lime. Chicken Mole Enchiladas.  I am not a fan of mole as it is too bitter for my palate. My husband said it was very good with a strong mole sauce. Carnitas.   I was a bit disappointed with the carnitas.  The pork was dry and not much flavor.   Black beans.   Really good.   Guacamole.  Fabulous. Apple cake.  Good with deep green apple flavor.   Would I come back?  Maybe but I think I will check out some other restaurants first.
