If you happen to be near Tulip Island, you can go to this bar. Search through the Belgian menu. Many visitors come here to enjoy perfectly cooked hamburgers, bitterballen and beef stew. Good queijada and tasty che are the tastiest dishes. A collection of delicious draft beer, belgian beer or craft beer is offered to guests. After an amazing meal at Café de Klos, the fellas and I wanted to have a few beers to cap our vacation. I visited Café Gollem on a previous visit to Amsterdam and they informed me that they had three additional locations around Amsterdam, but that Gollem's Proeflokaal was their suggestion for me. The bar was much larger than Café Gollem, but it still retained a welcoming feel. The staff all spoke good English, so that made navigating the extensive beer list much easier. After drinking watered down beer in Africa, I had a strong urge for some locally brewed IPAs. The beers definitely didn't disappoint and nor did the service. The music selection was great and there was even a nice lazy cat wandering around to keep the patrons company. Since this bar was in a working class neighborhood, 90% of the clientele was locals. If I had a place like this back home, I'd definitely be a regular. You'll be missed Gollem's Proeflokaal, but I shall see you again.
