To begin with, after being brought a plate of sushi and beginning to eat, I noticed the plate seemed a bit dirty. Imagine the nauseous feeling I had after realizing just how dirty the plate was. It looked as though the plate had only ever been rinsed off and never truly cleaned to remove prior food. At this point I was disgusted and thought of nothing but hoping I didn't get sick. After paying and leaving without finishing so much as 3 pieces from the order, I decided to take a look at the recent health ratings. Imagine my (lack of) shock to see them frequently falling below a 90 and dipping dangerously close to the 70's. This pretty much cemented the idea this place was not to be trusted. It's not somewhere I desired to go back to.
However, after calming down, I decided to give them a shot to redeem themselves. Surely a 4.5 meant this was just really terrible luck? I called to speak with a manager. Perhaps they could show they took cleanliness and patron health seriously. Well immediately after I calmly explain the situation and how I felt, the manager's reaction was simply to.ger defensive and try every way possible to dismiss my concerns. Finally he stated he would speak with the staff. After giving him time to do so, I called back and was dismissed yet again as "they were just too busy". Too busy to check on a potential health and safety concern? After waiting a little longer, the third call was simply hung up on. It's extremely disappointing that they care so little about health and food safety. Again, I advise everyone to steer clear of this place. Far better and safer sushi restaurants exist. Sushihana is certainly superior.
