Sadly, I just found out this venue has been permanently closed. Owned by a local tv celebrity, this is where I was first introduced to the pleasure of Greek food, retsina and roditus in December 1984 while in boot camp at Recruit Training Center for the US Navy. I was a regular. 19. In uniform and they allowed me the Greek wines I still enjoy today. I went to the fleet and came back a year and more later for School in 1986. On business in 2005 I visited my old friend. In 2008 was my last visit from New England to San Diego. Everything changes but the Cafe was still there. Reliable and delicious. Nothing lasts forever, and you can't go back in time Gatsby. From a boy, becoming a man and experiencing other cultures and foods... yes I reflect wistfully, as I loved the food and scenery. It was a great time, and I knew it to be great as it was happening. Great food and a wonderful staff. Everything about it was GREAT. Thank you!

I can't go to San Diego without visiting the Greek Islands Cafe. Fresh food and authentic assortment. You have a choice of a huge menu and you can easily see how your food is getting prepared. Don't forget to take their Greek coffee and wines-the best.
