After not hearing any feedback after reporting this Reward points related incident multiple times from 4 months ago, and noting my intent to post this on Yelp, I have finally decided to share this unpleasant experience in hoping to get their attention. I will start by saying we absolutely enjoy this Japanese BBQ restaurant and have been coming here for years and have never had any issues with the service or food quality, and we had been looking forward to coming back here since the pandemic shutdown started. Here now is what I had reported first via the Rewards app on 1/16/2022, followed by reporting the same via the website contact several weeks later after not receiving any response back. Maybe this will now trigger someone from Gyu-Kaku management to reply. -------- To Gyu-Kaku Management (San Mateo, CA location), I had sent this same message through the Rewards app feedback on 1/16/2022 but have not heard anything back, so will try sending the message back to here instead referencing the original email you sent about my expiring reward points. We were very disappointed about our Sat 1/15/2022 reservation mishap in conjunction with my expiring reward points. My wife and I had a 3:30pm reservation setup (confirmation #xxxxxxxxxx) at your San Mateo restaurant to take advantage of our 350 points being about to expire on 1/18/2022. But when we got there at exactly at 3:30pm the door was closed and the establishment appeared to be empty, with the inside lighting very dark/dimmed. We pulled the door several times and it was either locked or at least terribly jammed, but nevertheless we did not see anyone inside the restaurant and no one at the front reception counter to welcome anyone in. We stood outside waiting for several minutes to see if anyone would show up but then gave up assuming that your shop was closed and had to settle eating at a different nearby restaurant. Then an hour later at 4:33pm I received a text from your establishment that our table was ready now, but what good was it to receive a text an hour after our reservation at 3:30pm was scheduled for? Why wasn't this text sent out an hour earlier at the appropriate reservation time? So we were still in the  area (forced to eat at a different restaurant) and when we walked back to your restaurant to check we can now see that it was open, with the neon "Open" sign lit up with staff and customers inside. I explained to the receptionist (a  gentlemen, did not get his name) about our situation and coming in time for our  reservation but that the restaurant was closed. But then he said that the  restaurant was open at 3:30pm and that the door was never locked. I argued the  point that the door was closed and there was no one inside, but nothing could be done now after the fact. I asked if I could apply my expiring points to something to take to go but was told you were not accepting any takeout orders at this time. And being that we had already eaten elsewhere we were too full to have another meal now to use our reward points. During this COVID period  we had stayed away from eating out much but saw it as a nice opportunity to come  eat at Gyu-Kaku again that weekend for the first time since this pandemic  started, and to use our points before they expired. But we have no other  opportunity to make it back to your restaurant again before our 350 points were  to expire coming up on 1/18/2022. I have been tempted to write up a Yelp review  about this negative experience but hope you will consider instead finding a way  to extend these points from expiring and allow us another opportunity to come  back at a near future date to use them. Attached are both the reservation confirmation and text message that was received for your reference. -----Original  Message----- From: Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ Sent: Tuesday, January 11, 2022  4:38 AM Subject: Expiring Points -  Final few days! Hi xxxx, Just a quick note to let you know that  350 points at Gyu-Kaku are expiring in 7 days on January 18, 2022. We  hope you are able to make use of these points before that day. Thanks and  see you at Gyu-Kaku again soon. Cheers, Gyu-Kaku
