My name is Mike and I'm known as the "Sushi Traveler". One of the stops on my travel adventures through-out the country that I must mention is Hai Sushi Japanese Restaurant in Simi Valley, CA and it has been open for over 15 years. Hai Sushi is an all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant, where I frequently have dined in over the past 10 years. It's a spacious medium-scale sized, clean and exquisite restaurant. Strong 5 stars (as an AYCE Japanese restaurant under $35) The waiters & waitresses are very attentive for refilling your beverages and accommodating your needs by bringing you the food in a timely manner. Also, the restaurant manager always visits your table with smiles to make sure you are very happy about your dining experience. These are vital qualities of any successful and prospering business. I love Hai Sushi for the following extra special reason: All-You-Can-Eat of Ikura (Salmon Eggs) Gunkan with its salty, burst in your mouth flavors are definitely a must have. The Uni (Sea Urchin) Gunkan that tastes of the ocean with its briny flavor, is an aphrodisiac and will make you crave more than just one. Also, the Japanese Scallop sliced in-half with a squirt of yuzu juice sitting on seasoned vinegared rice really brings out the true freshness of the mollusk. Now don't let me forget the prized possession of this sushi bar that everyone orders which is the Spider Uramaki (Soft Shell Crab Roll). If the California roll got promoted to first class status, it would be called the Spider roll. The tempura soft shell crab and its less fibrous textured shell, makes this the best ole' fashion sushi roll you could order. I literally could eat 3 spider rolls in one sitting. In fact, I have done that before. My Ikura Gunkan orders alone is worth the price of this entire buffet meal! The quality control of their dishes are excellent. They are all clean, fresh and scrumptious. These are usually not being offered at other AYCE Japanese restaurants here in Ventura County. Many AYCE sushi restaurants serve the hot appetizers and fully cooked foods in addition to sushi. Nevertheless, they really taste of authenticity and that is very difficult to accomplish. This is especially true to tempura, which is one of the most difficult dishes, which requires extremely high and unique skills to cook. The sushi bar counter seats that face the sushi chefs are the most prized and valuable seats that you can choose. The same goes to the upscale omakase style Japanese sushi restaurants in the country. With having a love for this Japanese delicacy for over 20 years, I'm changing the way people envision it. It's an art form that I will showcase to you with my culinary adventures traveling to sushi bars around the world. I highly recommend you try out this sushi bar when you are in mood for a great meal and atmosphere.
