Hapa Sushi Grill and Sake Bar did not disappoint. We made reservations and we were seated promptly at our reserved time. To our surprise they had a great happy hour selection so we ordered several items from that menu. The food was delicious as well as the sake. Our server was on top of it! We will definitely be back! We’ve been going to Boulder Hapa for six years and it’s usually a consistently good sushi/sashimi experience, but something has changed. We ordered shashimi yesterday and it was tasteless and mealy, as if the manager decided to leave the salmon and salmon roe in the refrigerator for too many days and serve it up during happy hour. The worst part is, it made both of us sick so I am filing a complaint with Boulder County Health. It also convinced us to never go back again. Comments from wait staff revealed a culture of fear of management, and staff is being pushed to cycle customers as fast as possible and serve up food that should have been thrown away.
