Blackrock Market is not exactly the kind of place where you'd normally expect to find a fine dining restaurant, but I suppose that this modern world is all about inverting the norms.  Plus I'd imagine that the rent is considerably cheaper than in the middle of town. Heron and Grey, named after owners Andrew Heron and chef Damien Grey, has taken over the premises of the former Canteen, and following a brief refit early in the year, it's now open under its own vision.

Super. Eat here and be merry. Simple.  They've spruced up the charming nook at the elbow of the Blackrock Market. Fixed menu, two lunches and three nights a week. There's a charming buzz to the place.  Front of house cracks wisely, steering you to knock out wines and through your menu. Back of house ain't far away (it's intimate in here). Chef can see if you're loving the grub. Plenty of realtime feedback seems to help! All our feedback was enthusiastic. Thumbs up. Technically complex, beautiful plates of very tasty food. Magic. Check out the photos. Everything looks great, but tasted even better. They'll make room for dietary needs, but let them know in advance. If you've an open mind and palate, trust the chef, with confidence. We'll be back. Soon, I hope.
