Great atmosphere and even better food! It was definitely the most delicious restaurant we visited in Venice. Fresh oysters and octopus. Delicious bruschetta and very well prepared calamari. Pasta is definitely a delight for the palate, perfectly cooked pasta al pomodoro - perfectly selected spices make you not want to end the meal, Alfredo pasta in a perfectly creamy sauce. We also tried the meat in red wine sauce, which was perfectly tender. I highly recommend!! At the end, we finished smoking in the company of a very open owner who gave us two bottles of wine to continue the evening. Everything was great!!! I fully recommend it! The food here is great, and the staff are very nice. The interior looks like a traditional Italian building, with the red stone bricks, blank walls, and they even sell paintings. However, the prices are a bit high for the portions, especially the salads (which are named after luxury cars). I would still recommend this place to people looking for a nice place for dinner near the train station. Trattoria il Vagone near Venice's Santa Lucia station is a late-night savior for those craving local flavors without breaking the bank. Skeptical at first due to the sparse crowd, we dove in based on great reviews and surprisingly fair prices for Venice. From the tasty bruschette to the fettuccine Alfredo and Venetian liver, everything hit the spot. The owner, super friendly, even gifted us a bottle of what I guess was their local merlot. A genuine Venetian culinary experience without the dreaded tourist price tag, and it's conveniently close to the station. Highly recommend this cozy find for an authentic meal!
