Lovely cool setting however... 1. Serious attitude from the manager...simply inhospitable.  This is the individual that is supposed to 'lead the way' in warm engaging service?  NOTE to ownership....rethink please. 2. Bad service...appetizers thrown around the table to be shared when they were ORDERED as 1st courses.  Disappearing server.  Missed place settings (just how do you serve food without ensuring that your guests are able to EAT?).  Red wine poured into a glass containing white wine. Service staff slamming into my chair literally a dozen times to serve another table without the benefit of a 'pardon me'. NOTE to ownership...restaurant training 101. Outside of a lukewarm entree, food was good.  Kudos to the chef. There you have it.
I remember eating the red snapper here back in 2007 and it was one of the most beautiful, delicious things I'd ever eaten... fast forward to 2019 and they've ruined it; the recipe is completely different and it's been downgraded to a fried snack with the remains of the fish as pointless decoration. The crab cakes and chocolate truffle were decent but lacking in portion. Overall it's now a pretty typical restaurant that is no longer worth the price.
Indochine is a New York classic for a reason! The decor is fantastic and the helpful and efficient waitstaff add to the general all-round good time atmosphere that pervades here. The food is wonderful, the portions are generous, and there are so many delicious things on the menu I always struggle to choose. I'd recommend ordering a whole bunch of stuff for the table. It's not strictly Vietnamese food as they add their own little flourishes and the flavours are all very fresh and well balanced. Indochine has a good selection of inventive cocktails, including some non-alcoholic ones, all of which compliment the food and taste wonderful. Prices are reasonable for what you get and the 80's soundtrack is banging. Good times guaranteed!!
