I have been to this restaurant numerous times over a period of several years, with each visit being a four- or a five-star worthy experience. I completely understand the overall Yelp rating for this business, currently averaging a solid four stars with 322 reviews posted. In fact, this happens to be one of my favorite restaurants in Simi Valley. So then, why did I give them only two stars?....because they permanently closed this location! I'm really disappointed in the business decision that the islands restaurant chain made here. I know it was probably a carefully made decision, but I can still speak for hundreds, if not thousands, of previously happy customers in the area and say that we're really disappointed to lose one of our favorite restaurants. I can also imagine that this business decision was heavily influenced by the temporary loss of customers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whatever the reason, it's just really sad to see this restaurant close. I've had lots of fun times here for a variety of occasions. I've been here for multiple events, with party sizes ranging from a party of two to a party of twenty. The quality of the food was always excellent, and their service was consistently friendly and professional. I have also ordered most of the items on their menu here, and they were all visually appealing and appetizing. I posted a few of the many pictures I've taken during my fun times at this restaurant, so please check them out for more detail. So in summary, while this business was operating, it was clearly worthy of four or five stars. Unfortunately, I've gotta demote my rating to two stars for the decision that their corporate leadership team made to permanently close this location. To corporate: PLEASE REOPEN THIS BUSINESS!!!

Our group had burgers at the Islands . The buns had an awful old grease taste, giving them unpleasant bitterness that made the buns inedible. (The rest of ingredients were ok). I'm sure that is a simple fix, yet the manager "investigated" and "checked personally" on that issue, only to "didn't find anything wrong with it". At that point it wasn't about the food, that was about customer service. The waitress was professional, had great attitude, and apologized many times(she shouldn't have to do it). After all, they did offer a desert on the house. I may suggest that you offer a desert when the food comes late. When the food tasted bad, last thing you want to do is to offer more food. Conclusion. More training for the manager is required as things happen and it is crucial to recognize the issue. Hint. You can always offer a small discount on an item compromised without assuming that people are trying to eat for free.
