Great food as always ????????????????
Best Japanish Buffet in town
Edit: Itsudemo really stepped up and seems to have learned from my visit ☺️ Now they have signs for all the foods with a marking of ”P” for anything nut-free. In addition they’ve promised to more than make up for this by covering my medical fees from this visit, plus a gift card to go visit them again for nut-free sushi ❤️ Thank you itsudemo, will definitely be visiting again in the future ☺️ I’ll change my review to reccomend once this has been completely resolved - they’ve handled this beautifully.
Original review:
If you have any food allergies or sensitivities do not go to itsudemo! The kitchen staff does not speak english or finnish and any information you get about allergies cannot be trusted. I went for the buffet just over a week ago and I asked if there were any nuts anywhere. Two different people told me that there weren't any in the sushi. Funny thing is that my throat started clogging up and I was itchy everywhere. Now already quite sure that I had eaten some nuts - which I'm severely allergic to, I went to ask about nuts again. On the third time that I asked I was told that it is hard to get information as the kitchen staff doesn't speak any of the same languages, but there are no nuts in the food. At this point I wanted to believe that I just had a mild reaction to something else and that there was no reason to worry, later on I realized that they clearly had no idea if the food had nuts in it or not. I went home coughing the whole way and had to call the emergency number, where they immediately dispatched an ambulance to take me to the hospital. At this point I was struggling with my breathing and feeling really ill. I threw up pretty much everything I had eaten at the buffet in the ambulance and felt a bit better but still having problems breathing and itching everywhere. I had to stay at the hospital for 3 hours under supervision, and I had medicines put straight into my vein. I spent 3 days eating medicines and feeling really ill. What was itsudemo's response? They promised to pay for the hospital and medicines, but still insists that there were no nuts in the food. Newsflash: People don't get anaphylactic reactions from nowhere, that sort of reaction is very severe and only caused by very severe allergies. I only get it from peanuts, so I can't help but wonder how clueless the restaurant is of what they are serving.
In summary: food was good, staff was friendly but completely clueless, I survived my life threatening meal (which I paid €20,50 + €19,50 for my companion), I lost 4 hours of my day sitting in the ambulance, car and hospital, and at the end of the day I was still hungry. If you are immune to all allergies and don't mind not knowing what you are eating then I reccomend this place, otherwise avoid and go elsewhere, helsinki has plenty of options to choose from!
