A Portland classic. Go at happy hour and enjoy the people watching. I don't remember the food, it's solid but not memorable by Portland standards. You go for the ambiance, nostalgia, and chic.

This place has been around since 1892 for a reason. We had an old-school awesome lunch on a quiet Monday with Paul the bartender. He was perfect - guiding us through the menu, history, and neighborhood. We started with a half-dozen oysters that were so fresh and icy cold, followed by perfectly crispy and moist crab and shrimp cakes (meaty and not just breadcrumbs). The Caesar and cup of clam chowder were good. And, then we had more oysters for dessert lol. Next time, and there will be a next time, we’ll have to try the famous key lime pie. If you get a chance, don’t pass up Jake’s and walking around the Pearl District!
