The Ichiban is the best torched sushi roll I've ever had, but it comes with a kick so be prepared! Great rolls overall. This is how we roll, Jackpot, Crazy Horse, and so on. Didn't have any dislikes.

During a recent lunch visit to Jang Goon Sushi & Korean BBQ, I encountered a mix of satisfying and disappointing aspects. The restaurant had a pleasant ambiance, and we were promptly seated upon arrival on a Saturday afternoon. To start, we ordered gyoza as an appetizer, which proved to be a satisfying choice. The deep-fried gyoza had a tasty filling and were enjoyable. Moving on to the main dishes, we opted for Beef hot stone bibimbap, ddeok-bokki, and some sushi. The sushi at Jang Goon was decent, meeting the expectations for a standard sushi offering. However, it did not leave a lasting impression. The ddeok-bokki, a Korean spicy rice cake dish, fared better and delivered a pleasant level of spice. It was a highlight of the meal, offering a satisfying combination of flavors. Unfortunately, the Beef hot stone bibimbap fell short in several aspects. Although visually appealing, it was lacking in meat, providing only a meager portion. The flavor of the meat was also disappointingly bland. To compensate for this, the restaurant provided gojuchang in a squeeze bottle to add to the bibimbap, which helped enhance the taste to some extent. Nonetheless, the overall dish failed to deliver the robust flavors typically associated with bibimbap. Adding to the disappointment, the side of kimchi we ordered carried an unexpectedly high price tag of $8. The kimchi itself did not meet expectations, as it lacked the traditional bold and spicy flavors. Instead, it leaned towards being predominantly sour, with minimal spice. Given the reputation of kimchi as a strongly flavored side dish, this rendition fell short. The service at Jang Goon was hindered by a new waiter, resulting in a somewhat lackluster experience overall. However, the waiter was friendly and made efforts to provide good service despite their inexperience. In conclusion, Jang Goon Sushi & Korean BBQ offered a mixed dining experience. While the ddeok-bokki and deep-fried gyoza stood out as enjoyable dishes, the sushi and Beef hot stone bibimbap were underwhelming. Additionally, the overpriced and lackluster kimchi, coupled with service hiccups, contributed to a less-than-optimal visit. For those seeking a satisfying Korean dining experience, it may be worthwhile to explore other options in the area.
