This place was pretty packed on a Thursday. We were a large group (softball team). Ordered raw oysters, cocktail shrimp and appetizers from the bar menu. The food was amazing and the oysters super fresh and delicious! I would say this is one of our new go-to places in Cambridge. Our bartender, Debra, was amazing. Her level of hospitality and attention to detail are exceptional. She even took pictures for us! Loved everything!
The baked Indian pudding , just having it, was wonderful. Lock obers,  closed, so no Boston restaurant that I know served this delicacy. And it was free because of logging on to Yelp The 1 lb boiled lobster ($25) was perfect tasting. Soft, with lots of taste. Again, we went here rather  than downtown to Boston Sails which is on the waterfront but presented challenges in parking, and couldn't get a last minute reservation, like we did at the shack. The Pino Grigio at $10. Was good. The New England clam chowder was different- in that it wasn't loaded with traditional cream. There's was thinner, with lots of clams and small cut potatoes. It wasn't hot enough for me, but it was fine. Not outstanding. The slaw, free with the lobster was unusual, good sized and a  bit bitter. The two pieces of corn bread were very good. Wife had a salad with grapefruit and small little shrimp mixed in. She liked it! The restaurant is noisy, loud, lots of little baby's and kids. It was 6:15 pm on Saturday. The service was excellent. They might consider taking the nice bar area, and enclosing it, that way there's no noise or hustle and bustle. And I'd be back for lunch and dinner with a more formal group. Most people here were dressed in jeans. I'd like to give it 4.5 stars.
Food was great. But your sitting on a picnic bench and paying prices like its the top of the hub.
