I really enjoy Jerry’s and I’ve been coming to this branch since they opened but tonight I was almost brought to tears by all the mistakes and unexpected charges. First of all I ordered their mango daiquiri which is usually sweet and delightful but was so bitter and sour and clearly made with unripe mango, this is okay, mistakes happen but when I confronted the bartender and told him my daiquiri tasted weird and bitter like a panado, all he said was “it is what is it” and “that’s just how it is” as a long time customer it hurt to be so disregarded. I then ordered the slider burgers as I couldn’t make a decision as to what to order and the sliders come with three different little burgers I was satisfied with the taste but when the bill came I was shocked to see I’d been charged R40 extra for the 3 small sliders (which totaled at R180) , R10 extra for the already unsatisfactory daiquiri and 10 extra for the tequila shot I got. I have a very strict budget and I have a tiny amount set out each week for one night of eating out and I wasn’t prepared to spend over R300 for 3 tiny burgers and a bitter cocktail but that’s what happened. The manager came out and said “oh I’m so sorry I’ll fix that, it must’ve been a mistake, these are our old menus but I’ll correct your bill.” And then proceeded to bring out the same unreasonable bill as before. I didn’t want to fight with anyone so I didn’t say anything more but now I’ve dipped into my other expenses of the week and I’m going to struggle when I otherwise wouldn’t have. I wouldn’t have ordered what I did if I knew that the prices have done up by like 20%. I’m just sorely disappointed and they won’t be seeing me again.
