John's of 12th Street has been serving traditional Italian food at the same location for 111 years. Our menu has been showcased on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and we have hosted Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown. John's also boasts a world famous vegan menu.

John's has been an East Village mainstay for over 100 years and our timeless interior has been featured on shows such as The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire.

In the early days, John's was a meeting place for Italian immigrants and anti-fascists. Early 20th century human rights activist Carlos Tresca was a frequent diner here due to his close friendship with founder John Pucciatti. Lucky Luciano and members of the "organization" he belonged to often dined here.

Came here as part of a historical walking tour of Little Italy. We were served one meatball and noodles: personally, the noodles and sauce are very good -- but the meatball texture and flavor could be improved upon. Ample serving of water by the staff, but our table location seemed quite dim compared to the rest of the restaurant. This location has both indoor and outdoor dining available and can accommodate large parties.

My friends and I came here for a triple date and it turned out to be a great night. The service was A+ and we definitely ordered too much. +1 for having an extensive vegan menu. Who knew vegan garlic bread could taste even better than regular garlic bread...I was blown away. I highly recommend ordering both just to test it :) I've made it a point to try spaghetti with meatballs at every Italian restaurant to get an idea of the food quality and it never goes wrong. I just couldn't figure out what was missing in the spaghetti with meatballs at this place though. Maybe I just had too many appetizers before the entree, but I think the dish could use just a little extra kick. Other than that, the drinks and appetizers made it a good dinner.

John's of 12th street is so cool! It is spacious for East village and roomy. 5 stars for the ambiance/space & having a vegan menu THERE IS A VEGAN MENU - We tried both raviolis -- I recommend the Alfredo sauce ravioli (there are enough pieces of ravioli given to be full) - broccoli rabe spaghetti (a little bitter) VEGAN TIRAMISU WAS EVERYTHING - please try the vegan tiramisu (espresso, creamy amazingness) - vegan Panna cotta was also good (had a strawberry sauce, but tiramisu was another level)
