Without a doubt one of the best fine dining meals I've ever had, beyond the best Thai cuisine I've ever had or Asian cuisine in general. Caramelized cod and radish dumplings were a delightful experience. The lamb and goat curry was THE BEST CURRY I've ever had. Earthy, complex, a level of spiciness that got my forehead sweating and questioning where my limit was. The side dishes were excellent as well as the bourbon based cocktails. Eat here! The prettiest Thai spot I’ve seen. The high ceilings and plants stole my heart. Kalaya is a restaurant that I’m determined to go back next time. Not only their food is fantastic, but also most of their signatures are only available at night time. *Chu Chee Hoi Shell The curry was very creamy with coconut milk. It spice was manageable for me and made the dish bursting with flavors. The scallop was cooked to perfection. I was drinking the curry while my friend suffered from the spice. Don’t order if you aren’t confident with your spice tolerance. Even though I heard their signature crab curry (Pu Pad Pong Karee) is even spicier, I’m ready to accept the spice challenge next time. *Hoy Nang Rom Ob Woonsen It had two pieces of raw oysters accompanied by many bacon slices in the pot. The glass noodles soaked up all the sauces. I found the woonsen a bit salty, but the fish sauce (not spicy imo) served on the side balanced it out. *Kalum Tod Nam Pla It was quite pricey to get a small bowl of cabbage ($10), but it was a life saver for my friend. The veggies surprisingly relieved the heat in her mouth. I was amazed how tasty it actually was, seasoned with with fish sauce and palm sugar.
