I really wanted to love this place, based on the reviews, but it just didn't hold up to the hype. We found that the meat was very tough, the portions small, and the service not at all helpful. Add in the very strange ambiance (there's late night taco joints with better decor), and it just wasn't the experience we were hoping for.

This place is a hidden gem. I had #4 on the menu, the lamb squares dish with red peppers. The name eludes me, but it was fantastic! The staff was friendly, accommodating, and very welcoming. I am sharing this place with my friends and highly recommend it!

Yes, another 5 star review. Normally, we need to drive up to Edgewater to find good Ethiopian food. It is awesome to have a great Ethiopian, actually Eritrean, spot in Lakeview. This is a casual environment with awesome food and great service. I especially loved the Beef and Okra dish, but the chicken, lamb and other dishes our fellow diners ordered was amazing. Now, throw in a friendly owner who knows her food, and you have a winner. We will definitely be back. If you have never had Ethiopian food, Keren's Kitchen would be a great entry point. The staff will guide you in the right direction. Finally, it is BYOB. Our friends improvised a quickly made Tej that paired well with the food. Great food, great service, great prices. Glad we found and tried Keren Kitchen.
