One to avoid! Bad service and cockroach! A colleague recommended this restaurant as he really enjoyed the food here. So when my friend was visiting from overseas, we booked a brunch slot as that was the only dining option available. I ordered the full breakfast which came with eggs, bacon, sausage and toast. I was enjoying my food until I saw a piece of hair in my bacon. I brought this to the waitress's attention, who then asked me if I'd like a replacement of just the bacon or the whole entire plate. She didn't seem surprised nor was she very apologetic. After we finished our meal, and was about to pay, my friend felt something fall onto her shoulder. She looked down and there it was! A cockroach!!! After much commotion, the manager of the restaurant came over rudely grabbed the bill from me (without a word of apology) and crumbled the bill up. We left the restaurant without a formal apology from any of the staff. I guess this is what one should expect from a 5* restaurant these days. I did write an email to corporate after the incident, the manager responded offering to "take care of me" if I wished to return for dinner. I politely declined as I did not want to risk getting anymore surprises in my food.
Went there for dinner and it was hands down the best Italian food I've ever had! The food is a bit expensive and reservations are tough to get, so L'Artusi is now categorized for me as "special occasions only". If you do plan on going, I'd suggest looking to make resy's at least a few weeks in advance to be extra safe.
L'Artusi is one of the best meals in the city. It's very difficult to get a reservation at a normal hour, but you could actually get a reservation at 5:30 pm or 9:30 pm without reserving ridiculously early. The ambiance and service at the restaurant are fantastic, but what makes it special is really the quality of the food. All the pastas I've ever had there are just so high quality -- from the texture to the blend of the ingredients; they're never too heavy or creamy, so you can really taste the quality. The best thing at L'Artusi is definitely the olive oil cake -- one of the best desserts I've ever had. The cake itself is incredibly delicate and sweet, and the whipped cream next to it is so delicious that I always ask for extra. Do yourself a favor and go to L'Artusi!
