I have had poutine more times than I can remember as a former resident of Montréal. From the cafeteria in the engineering building at McGill to burger King on St. Catherine's across from the Bay. There is just something happy about this wonderful French Canadian comfort food. It certainly made me happy when I was feeling anxiety about taking finals as a student. Having deeper pockets these days, the Bank is my go to spot for poutine when I'm in Montréal. Having had the poutine here and then a few days later at anothee well regarded eatery (Radio Cafe in Beaupré Quebec) really helped me to appreciate just how good the quality of the poutine is at the Bank. They weren't remotely comparable. The smoked meat poutine remains my favorite. Something about how the smoked meat flavor enhances the poutine gravy taste without adding a ton of grease like sausage would. On a carefree non health conscious day this might be my favorite meal in the world. The vegetarian poutine was also tops, especially if you add some chopped spicy peppers to the dish. I had to take a star off my review for our waitress, however. We had leftovers yet she stacked our bowls one on top of another. I called her out regarding contaminating our food and yet she still denied wrongdoing. "The food doesn't touch" she said. I know the Bank gets super hectic and is probably a tough place to work but cmon!
Came here at around 11am on a Sunday and there was no wait. Service was fast and courteous. Ordered the regular size La Paul-Pogo (pogos, onion, bacon) poutine and it was so delicious. Note: The portion is huge and is definitely tough for one person to finish. Overall an excellent experience and would return.
