We dined at La Casa Sena this evening, and while the food was good, the service/hospitality was not. We had a large group (10 in total), in which half were children ranging in age from 5-11. Since we are from TX, the kids asked to go into the court yard after they finished their meals to play in the snow. As we were paying the check, the manager on duty came up to our table with concern that the kids could slip and fall. We understood her concern and noticed that she was telling them to come inside as we were grabbing our coats. As we walked out of the room and to the door to leave, the stares and sneers from the staff were hard to miss. One of the boys was holding the door open for everyone to walk out including a few stragglers from our group, and the hostess walked up and in the most ugly tone and awful look on her face told the boy to "leave the door closed!" I understand that children can be annoying, especially in restaurant settings, but making guests in your restaurant feel completely unwelcome in uncalled for. The restaurant had few diners while the other restaurants on the plaza were all on a 3 hr wait, so I can only imagine this isn't a one off issue. As I said, the food was good (nothing amazing, but solid) and our waitress was very hospitable, but our overall experience was marred by the hostess and the manager/staff as we left. In this case, last impressions are the most important. Definitely do not recommend La Casa to families looking for suitable dining options while in Santa Fe as there are so many better options. To the staff at the restaurant, it would have been so much easier to resolve this in person when I pointedly asked why you were so upset vs passive aggressively dismissing my concern "as nothing".
Love their patio in the summer!  It is cool, private, and relaxing.  Be sure to read about the history of the building when you are there.   The menu is New Mexican with some interesting twists.  Can't recommend any one thing in particular and have never had anything I would need to warn you to avoid, either.   They have a wine store on the premises  with a good selection of things you won't find in the chains.
With lots of places closed before Thanksgiving, we were just looking for a place to get a drink. The bar was closed, so we sat in the dining room. Don't get me wrong; it's a lovely place. But we paid white linen service prices for a margarita and glass of wine that were only adequate. And even though we only these two items, the server brought me a glass of Pinot Grigio instead of Pinot noir. And yes, I was quite clear when I ordered.
