We had high hopes for this restaurant for our first evening in CDMX. Maybe I’m biased because we live in NYC and are spoiled with endless amazing restaurants. The service was really wonderful, but the food truly fell short for us. The guacamole and chips were amazing served with homemade plantain, sweet potato and regular potato chips. The arugula salad with the honey mustard dressing also stood out to us. The esquites fell quite flat and didn’t have as much flavor as we would’ve like although we could tell they used quality corn. For our mains we got the duck enchiladas in mole sauce, which is truly a beautiful dish - a work of art. We also got the chile en nogada and our experience was the same as some of the other reviewers. The poblano itself was ice cold making the overall dish a strange temperature. It was also quite sweet. All in all, I probably won’t return here, as the tacos we got at a hole in the wall during the day for $7 USD total were more flavorful. Vegetarian options: Guacamole, corn, salads Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: MX$800–900 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Chips

We had a perfect meal at La Capital. Great atmosphere as you climb the steps to this restaurant. We were shown to the upper room which allowed us to sit by the window and enjoy the cool night air. We're greeted by Carlos our waiter who spoke nearly perfect English. I had a well-made ice cold martini and my wife chose a bubbly prosecco. We were served a delicious guacamole with a nice variety of chips made from plantain, potato, yams and other root veggies. My wife's main course chicken pastor (a sauce made from shavings broiled pork and pineapple) served with a pineapple salsa and tortillas plus a small green salad... Lots of delicious food. My main was a banana leaf stuffed with slow roasted pork (Cochinita Pibil). Cooked to perfection. Topped the evening off with a shared creme brule made with a Mexican fruit (mamey) with a texture similar to an avocado but sweet - yummy. Thanks to the chef and especially Carlos for his kind suggestions. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
