Heard about La Choza restaurant from a local while visiting Santa Fe. She urged us not to miss out on this place. Naturally, we had to give it a try. We arrived around 5:30 or so and put in our name. The wait was about an hour and a half, and there was quite a few people in the outdoor waiting area which we took as a good sign. If you want to know what we did in our free time- we walked to the gas station for a beer. The wait didn't feel too long. We ended up getting seated at the bar as we requested first available. I always love sitting at the bar!! The bartender was very sweet and helped us choose from a wide variety of margaritas and mezcal cocktails. My friend and I both settled mezcal for the night. We definitely made the right choice. I got the vegan enchiladas with both red and green chili. They were the perfect amount of spicy! My friend got the chili rellenos with the green sauce. The portions were a great size- filling but not too much. For dessert we got the dough (I'm blanking on the name) and they gave us cinnamon and powdered sugar to dip it in so it was vegan. They usually do honey (also good). This place is very vegan friendly, has a nice ambiance, and very sweet staff. If you go try sitting at the bar!! Will definitely be back here if I'm ever back in the Santa Fe area.
