Horrible puttanesca with a side of verbal harassment. Me and my wife went for a last min dinner on Saturday night around 8 pm which is still a reasonable time to expect to get a half decent meal or at least hopefully not be verbally harassed by the cooks from an open kitchen. Apparently this was not the case. The night started of pretty good our server hostess and òn duty manager at the time were nice, we sat down we ordered a couple appetizers (ceaser salad, escargot) those were fine, up to regular standard. Then our mains came I ordered the putanesca which said on the menu it would be prepared pan seared in the tomato and kalmata sauce on a bed of fettuccine, fine. My wife ordered the chicken parm with side penne Bolognese which is pretty standard in any italian kitchen. Okay so they came, my wifes pasta was not al dente and was covered in a soup of meat sauce the chicken was fine but she was eating it no problem wasnt a big deal. My putenesca was nothing like it was described on the menu, to a plain eye anyone could see the fish had been somewhat battered and deep fried because the fish batter had air bubbles in it that wouldnt happen if it had just been pan seared in tomato sauce like the menu said it would be perpared. Pasta over cooked. No problem. Not to make a fuss and to just simply let the server know it was not what I expected the way it came out Im sorry I just couldnt eat the battered fish. She let us know this was always how it comes out but that she understood where the confusion could lie because the fish clearly looked battered and not pan seared. She politely took it back to the kitchen, all parties apologized and thought nothing more of it. Now im not sure if you have ever been to La Cucina Ristorante before but they offer an open kitchen dinning experience, normally this would be a lovely asset to a restaraunt. That is unless you hire completely inexperienced and unprofessional high school students or people of that nature instead of cooks who understand the importance of maintaing a professional manner in which ensures an enjoyable dinning experience. Not only did the person who cooked our meals clearly take our sending the food back as some sort of personal attack on his character but he began to make it clear to us as he glared at my wife and myself for prolonged periods of time as to which it made us felt extremely uncomfortable but he did this while loudly vocalizing his disaprove from the kitchen to our table 15 feet away. He shook his head as if he was so offended and in my whole life I have never been so disrespect by some one in the service industry, it was embarrassing and not at all what we had signed up for with our dinning experience. As we left the restaurant as a finale to our experience the same cook proceeded to give flip us off with his middle finger. Needless to say we will not be returning, leaving very much taken back by the audacity of this young man in the navy blue new york Yankees baseball cap. At least we will have a story to tell our friends in the future. That is the one thing we can take away from this experience! :(
