Following a friend suggestion, we decided to dine at the " La fabrica del Gel". Overall all expectations were met and surpassed!! The food and wines offered are truly extraordinary, well presented and well served, on most instances, by an attentive staff. Unfortunately, our pleasant experience was "clouded" by an insistence, from a waiter, to address the whole table in Catalan rather than Spanish. As foreigners we did not want to impose our native languages and made the effort to communicate in Spanish, yet, apparently, this gesture was not taken well. Even the provided menus were only in Catalan, which is at odds with the restaurant's website that is translated in different languages .... including Spanish. It is a little off putting for people to expect that a -very regional language- is to be known and fully comprehended globally. It is not amusing to second guess what it is ordered and, possibly, be put in a position to send the food back, because of a "lost in translation" instance.Siguiendo la sugerencia de un amigo, decidimos cenar en "La fabrica del Gel". En general, se cumplieron y superaron todas las expectativas. La comida y los vinos que se ofrecen son verdaderamente extraordinarios, bien presentados y bien servidos, en la mayoría de los casos, por un atento personal. Desafortunadamente, nuestra agradable experiencia se vio "empañada" por la insistencia de un mesero de dirigirse a toda la mesa en catalán en lugar de español. Como extranjeros no queríamos imponer nuestras lenguas nativas e hicimos el esfuerzo de comunicarnos en español, sin embargo, al parecer, este gesto no fue bien recibido. Incluso los menús proporcionados estaban solo en catalán, lo que está en desacuerdo con el sitio web del restaurante que está traducido a diferentes idiomas ... incluido el español. Es un poco desalentador para la gente esperar que un -lenguaje muy regional- sea conocido y comprendido globalmente.
