Most guests recommend trying perfectly cooked tiramisu, crème brûlée and pudding. After a long working week, you can try good desert wine, beer or vermouth. What a divine dinner we had, the garlic tomatoe toast, potatas bravas, oxtail and polenta, the brownie and the Flan were all fantastic! Large bar area, tall tables for sharing, a piano and a awesome atmosphere. Wines and prices are all on display. English tapas menu. Local brew beers.
Seriously: this place is amazing! Everything looks and tastes like a dish out of a Michelin star restaurant! The dessert was so good I almost cried... I went here three times during my one week stay in Barcelona because I loved the place so much. Service is also really great! Thank you, Platilleria Crew!
We stayed in Barcelona for 10 days on vacation. Following the suggestions we received to not eat at restaurants that have photos of the food outside for the entire trip didn't prove to be very difficult. With that being said, most of the food we had was at least very good. Given that the quality of food was so high, I believe it to be even more significant that this was our favorite restaurant of the trip! They are a small local restaurant, with chalkboard menus, and a little ways off the beaten path (not too far to discourage visiting!) The tapas and beer we had here was out of this world. Here are my recommendations, but take them with a grain of salt (literally, when it comes to pan con tomate), because they are seasonal, and the menu changes: 1) Get the pan con tomate. They show you how to make it, so it is ever so fresh! 2) Taste some of the local wines and craft beers 3) Listen to the waitresses recommendations... no matter the current menu 4) Try the pulpo! (Octopus) 5) Calamari 6) The seasonal (Fall) mushrooms were great 7) Patatas bravas were good, but not my favorite of the trip 8) Back to beer... Try the Black Coupage if you like dark beers, and they still have it. Delicious beer! Enjoy Barcelona, and eat some REAL local food, or at least the best food we tried there after eating about 30 meals at different restaurants....
