Came to la Vagabunda while in Playa del Carmen in search of some authentic Mexican food.  Disappointed in some of the places we went until we came here.  Had great reviews but wanted to check for myself.  From the beginning, the waiter (Bruce) was great.  Gave us an English menu right off top then took our drink order.  We looked at the menu, and I reallllly wanted some tacos.  He overheard  me and came and asked if he could give me a recommendation, and I was so happy he did.  I had the chipotle fa...changas and was blown away!!   My girlfriend had the mega wrap and was extremely impressed as well.  The food was absolutely amazing, and the pico was fantastic (I wish I could take some back to Texas with me).  This was the authentic Mexican food experience we were looking for the entire time!!!   If We would've ate here on day 1 of our trip, we probably would've ate here every day. Will definitely be back when we come back to Playa del Carmen.
I tried a couple places, but this place was so nice I ended up coming back everyday every time I needed a quick meal before my next excursion. It's open and you can people watch as all the tourists and locals walk past, and they watch you too haha. And the service is nice. The food is really good. Also they did not pressure you to come inside, which was a big selling point for me because like it gets really stressful when every step you take someone is pressuring you to buy something. Also you can tell it's popular cos there's always people sitting inside. This place was precious! Come here
We really liked this place. Nice amount of shade on a hot day, right on 5th Avenue for people watching, and of course delicious food. We ate there twice and I had the Al Pastor tacos twice, yes I liked them that much. Staff was friendly and spoke English. The only thing I wish this place did differently was having a twist for the cocktails. My margarita was good, but if they threw in a twist, it might have been amazing.
