Today we’ve been at Le Figuier De Saint Esprit for lunch and went with the 3 course menu plus accompanying wine. The place is cute, the staff very friendly. We both went for different meals in our menus. It started with a good amuse bouche, followed by our first course. I had quail with bacon and mushrooms - very solid. Then followed by mullet with saffron rice, chorizo, brokkoli and garlic sauce. And as last a white chocolate “boat” with fruit purée and pistachio ice cream. My partner’s salmon with quinoa was overtaken by onions. Her foie gras was decent.Altogether the food was very good, the chef definitely played with the whole palette. Unfortunately the dishes were a bit - old fashioned/outdated? There was also no vegetarian option available, somehow not adequate in 2021. The wine that was given with each menu was fine, pretty mild. The staff might also have had a bad day, a mix up here and a food drop there… nothing major though - but not 1 Michelin star.Maybe the dinner options are better but in my point of view the place needs a push towards the 21st century. 4/5 stars.
