The ledbury, it was an amazing experience i will defenty go back again
The Ledbury is well known as of the best restaurants in London. With two Michelin Stars and an ever-changing tasting menu, this is a world class establishment with a wonderfully unpretentious ambience. No dress code, and a staff that are as genuinely friendly as they are highly trained. Reservations as far in advance as possible are suggested, as their books fill up quickly. We were lucky to secure a table for two just a few days in advance, thanks to their lovely reservations staff. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and seated at a table with a great view of their gorgeous dining room. Romantic soft lighting, high ceilings, and elegant, timeless decor. Luxurious without trying too hard. The wine list was abundant and curated, offering an impressive selection of bottles I had never seen before. The staff sommelier was highly knowledgeable, and recommended a Pinot Noir that we enjoyed. My boyfriend and I each decided to have the tasting menu, which I strongly suggest. They offer a fully vegetarian version for £140 per person (as opposed to the £150 pp for the standard menu). The first few courses were not on the menu-I soon discovered that this tasting menu features several mini courses between the actual courses. The first bites that came out set the tone for an incredible meal-savory tartlets served on a warm stone, elegant canapés filled with vegetable purée. As each course was brought out, our waiter briefly explained the ingredients and preparation. The meal was not only beautifully prepared and plated, but artfully choreographed. My favorite of the main courses was the White Aubergine Dusted with Olive and Black Tea. The tender eggplant fully absorbed the richly tangy marinade. The two herb infused sauces draped alongside were complex and played well together. I savored this dish, attempting to decipher the ingredients. The Hen Of The Woods mushroom was a close second. Roasted with rosemary, and beautifully presented by the chef, the multidimensional earthy flavors were exquisite. While these courses stood out, all of the others were fantastic as well, ranking among the best dishes I have ever eaten. Do not skip dessert. The dessert (and the pre-dessert) blew us away. Served atop a plate of juniper berries were two delicate rolled cookies filled with a spicy and sweet juniper and ginger sugar that melted in our mouths. Alongside were the most decadent chocolate truffles I have ever enjoyed. The main dessert course, Brown Sugar Tart with Stem Ginger Ice Cream was equally impressive. The wafer thin maple scented tart was filled with a creamy gingerbread spiced mousse, served with poached grapes and a decadent fresh ginger ice cream. Just incredible. I cannot say enough good things about The Ledbury-they deserve more than 5 stars. The tasting menu was not only an outstanding meal, but an experience that my boyfriend and I will not forget. I look forward to returning.
