I noticed this place has recently closed down but I might as well write this review for what it's worth. LocolL was a project by Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson to provide healthy and affordable food to the local community while hiring them to boost employment.  I became aware of them from EaterLA and I somewhat work in the area and checked them out 3 times.  The first time I visited the menu wasn't as expansive as I saw on Youtube but had some items.  The menu items that were available when I first went on November 2017 were cheeseburgers, chili,  and foldies but no longer had  yotchays, dulces, bowls, crunchies nor brekkie. The first item I tried was their double cheeseburger with fries and I have to say it was pretty good, messy, but good.  I really liked the seasoning of the fries they had there but when I was eating my food I was thinking about $10 maybe a bit bunch for the area.  I know they had other local burger joints that charge the same price for these type of combos so it is about average pricing.  The second time I visited I tried their chili combo with greens and it was pretty good.  It was also when I noticed the decline of the menu.  I didn't noticed it from my first visit but you gotta axe some items if they're not selling. My third and last visit there I could tell it was going down hill and the noticeable downsizing of the menu which only offered 4 items.  It was once lively now almost ghost town like and the people who came were mostly tourist or foodies. I don't get what's up with those box chairs and tables.  Most of them are solid cubes and you will be sitting at an angle all the time.  It can be a bit uncomfortable a long sittings. I liked the food here and their mission to bring healthy and affordable food to the neighborhood but sometimes things just doesn't work out.  Hopefully they can reopen but we'll just have to wait and see.

I cannot get enough of this place. Locol has a better way to eat. Fresh and locally grown. Do yourself a favor and get a taste of some Locol flavor!

Locol strives to create healthier food options in the surrounding food desert, but I was kinda confused as to what made this restaurant better. The mission to support the community, however, is one I can get behind. I stopped by here for a quick lunch as I am often looking for new options in South LA. The inside area is pretty cool with modular blocks for seating. The chicken nugs called out to me and my order was ready in no time. Unfortunately, my nugs were nothing special. The flavors were ok, but I'd rather get some wings from the grocery store.
