Incredible food here. And if you've got a Taste Card you are laughing!!! The meat was delicious according to those I was with and my vegan choices were good too. Staff were excellent and the setting was modern, classic and stylish all rolled into one. We've already got plans to go back!
Really fun and good food, the virtual shooting is a blast, and the gamey food is a real treat. Shame it's so pricey.
I find Mac and Wild a bit confusing to be honest. It can't decide if it wants to be rustic or upmarket, flailing around in the middle of both. The decor is upmarket (tasteful black and white photos of Scottish scenes), but includes some images of meat being prepared. The tables are rustic log slabs, the chairs are soft leather. There seem to be a lot of deer, although the main meat sold is beef. The plating is that irritating pretence at upmarket that is, in actuality, impractical; everything is served on a flat board or a tray which looks great but is irritating to eat from.As for the food, the meat IS good; ethically sourced, well prepared, but the accompaniments are disappointing; limp salads, dull chips, potatoes that tasted The sauces are overly sweet, the sides VERY salty. I can recommend the haggis scotch egg; those were genuinely delicious and worth eating. I did not try the vegan options, but it is worth noting those are available, which is a bonus. Service was fine, but not worth the 12%. The menu is VERY costly and feels expensive for what it is.
