In the last year I have drastically reduced my meat consumption but every now and then I allow myself to break the rule. And this time I chose the Trattoria del Macellaio Fornaciari in Reggio Emilia. Booked the table with 10/11 days' notice, I arrive on site and sit down (even though it seemed to me that they hadn't marked my reservation..) The menu offers a vast selection of meats, including foreign ones, but processed on Italian soil. There is also a part with more valuable cuts, also in price. I decide for a medallion of Piedmontese fassona fillet with a side of potatoes; good yes and a lot but it doesn't scream miracle. Not even the baked potatoes which in my opinion were from the day before and reheated at the moment so a little... limp. The mascarpone with chocolate flakes for dessert, however, is good. Too bad for the very “washed out” coffee, pass the term to me. I think the price is correct for the historical moment but a bit high overall. The restaurant, however, is modern and well furnished, with moderate air conditioning. Easy to find and with parking both in front and nearby. I went willingly, I ate well and the owner is really knowledgeable and nice but I have been to more engaging places. But I promote it and recommend it as they recommended it to me!
