When in Calgary, Made by Marcus is the go to place for ice cream. And for good reason because it's delicious, an adorable shop and the staff is great, too! My friends and I popped in for some treats over the weekend, everyone leaving happy & satisfied. Portions are huge and prices are great! I went with the flight for $10 so I could maximize my flavor trying consumption. Best of the best flavors I had: Apple Cheddar Pie. I ordered this as a niche and quirky flavor to try just to say I tried it. Never did I ever think I would not only love it, but swear it's better than the chocolate flavors I tried. My mouth is watering writing this review as I sit here craving it. Nomz. MUST GET. Rating all the other flavors I had in order~~~ 2. Chocolate Lava Cake - huge chunks of cake, chocolaticious. 3. Malted Chocolate Honeycomb 4. Passionfruit Basil - refreshing, palate cleanser. 5. Very chocolate and zucchini bread pudding. The onlyyyyy thing I would improve on at this Made by Marcus location is to have a bit more outdoor seating. They have some benches but they get sooooo darn busy because they are sooooo darn good, that people are always standing around. More seating and Made by Marcus would be perfection!

I understand the rave about this place. Lots of young people enjoying their ice cream like an ad for social media. This small ice cream shop is cozy and very well kept. They make their own ice cream and have many interesting combinations. Customers are allowed to sample their flavors. They even have prepackaged ice cream for those than want more than a scope or two. I ordered the vegan chocolate. Sadly, I didn't like it! It was too grainy and weird. My kids liked their cookies and cream. They are definitely very creamy ice cream. One thing that I didn't like was the attitude of one of the employees. He wanted me to hurry up and order even though I was not ready. At least, the other employee was nicer and took the time to help us.

I heard people talking about how good this place was and I was rolling my eyes assuming it was hyperbole. Let me be clear: IT WAS NOT. This place might have the best ice cream I have had in my life. I don't want to understate this--I have had a substantial amount of ice cream in my life and aside from made to order artisanal ice cream from some super fancy restaurants, this is some of the best ice cream I have ever had. The flavors were incredible, creative, and we got ~8 pints for our group and not only was every flavor excellent, but each bite of the same flavor continued to reveal new different components and facets of the flavor combinations. I couldn't believe it.
