Bistro Madeleine in Utrecht offers a unique dining experience. The restaurant is located in the shadow of the iconic Dom tower, and the decor is charmingly old-world with modern touches. The menu features French classics with a twist, and the wine selection is excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is beautifully presented and delicious. However, the restaurant can get quite noisy due to the large number of tables, and it can also be quite hot inside due to the lack of air conditioning. Despite these drawbacks, Bistro Madeleine is a great place for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.

Nothing but praise for the food and that is what you come first for. However, there was a huge letdown: the ambiance. Extremely busy (in itself a recommendation), but therefore hot and later very hot. But above everything else the noise rises, let's say quietly: smallpox noise. The dB meter on my phone registered 95, the equivalent of a drill, driving on the highway with the top down, you name it. This atmosphere was killing our expectant mood, we finished our main courses in record time because then we could leave! Very disappointing evening despite the excellent (certainly not cheap) food, ditto wine and adequate service. Coming back? No, I'd rather not.
