Delicious red sangria and fresh, flavorful salsas. I appreciate that they're willing to hold certain ingredients to accommodate my special diet. Service is always lovely. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Rajas California Burrito V

The week after New Years Day must be the week that restaurants in downtown Arlington Heights close for repairs. I wanted to go out to lunch with some friends and Mago was not our original choice. After trying two other restaurants, only to find that they were closed, I was ecstatic just to find one that was open. Mago Grill & Cantina is a Mexican restaurant in the building that houses the Metropolis Performing Arts Center. You will find the restaurant just inside the door before you get to the theater. It's a good thing that those other restaurants were closed because I probably wouldn't have tried this restaurant otherwise. This is a great restaurant with a friendly staff. The first thing that I was impressed by was the décor. It is decorated in a very bright and inviting manner. I am a huge wrestling fan and immediately felt at home dozens of Rey Mysterio Jr. masks lining the walls. 619! I settled in and got a Blue Moon. We were given tortilla chips and three different knids of dipping sauces. I'm not sure what knids of sauces these were but they ranged in spice level. I ordered three tacos. I got the TINGA DE POLLO (shredded chicken, caramelized onions, adobo salsa, farmers cheese, sour cream), COCHINITA PIBIL (yucatán-style pulled pork, habaneros, purple onions), and PICADILLO (ground beef picadillo, lettuce, pico de gallo, chihuahua cheese) tacos. I got a serving of rice to go with the tacos. The beans and rice are an extra charge. The tacos had a good taste. I recommend going with the more authentic corn tortilla. I don't have much of a tolerance for spice, so I went for the least spicy options available. I found there menu layout to be confusing and had a hard time finding what I wanted. Mago Grill & Cantina is a solid choice for good Mexican food. It would work as a great option before seeing a show at the Metropolis.
