The walk with a view of Iglesia de San Ildefonso is what you can expect after dining at this restaurant. Among other Mediterranean and Peruvian cuisune places to eat at, Mercado de San Ildefonso can be one of the greatest. You can always try good jamon, spanish tapas and hamburgers - a special offer of this place. Most guests recommend trying perfectly cooked nutella crepes, mermelada and pudding. One of my favorite markets in Spain. Not super crowded or touristy, and there are lots of different stalls with different types of foods and a bunch of different seating areas. The prices are pretty good for portion sizes, and most stalls offer a tapas size, 1/2 portion size, and a full portion size of different foods. Lots of stalls let you sample before you purchase a dish as well. Some of our favorite dishes were the Secreto Iberico (grilled Iberian pork), fried pork belly, paella, and assorted croquettes.
Went around 1pm on a Sunday in October but the 1st floor was already full. So decided to sit below. Ordered the Korean fried honey chicken which was ok. Give the Bao at the Gyoza place a miss. Definitely not worth it. The burger place below is good. But if you don't wait at the counter chances are that your burger gets delivered to someone else and you keep waiting. We had to wait around 25-30 minutes as our burger was given to someone else.
This was the second farmers market we visited in Madrid. Seems to be a trend here. There was a good amount of seating areas although it was still pack. There was a bar upstairs and on the very top floor was a nice restaurant/lounge. Although this one did not have a lot of fruits and veggies options like the other market, the food selections were awesome! It's a food court of different types of food. From Asian fusion, to meat and paellas. They had samples so we were able to get a taste of all the different cuisines. There was a meat venue with very tender and nicely seasoned cut of steaks. We ended up with paella and it was delicious. One of the best we've had in Spain to be quite honest. Got a jug of sangria to go with that and we were satisfied. This was walking distance from a popular strip with night life in Madrid
