Good views, good food, I expected a better quality of steak. The prices are on the high side, but I guess it's part of the dining experience too. Recommended. Our first experience. The service and ambiance was excellent as were the cocktails, salads and my mother was very pleased with her meal. I ordered the fish special. It was beautifully plated and would have been delicious had it not been cold. The manager very graciously removed it from the bill. The reason for the mediocre review is the credit card transaction fee charged. When I mentioned this to the server she said the owners charged them, also. As a business owner myself, I understand there’s a cost to doing business and from what I see, this restaurant isn’t struggling for customers. If you were to add the expense into your prices it probably wouldn’t be noticed but blatantly requiring customers to pay the expense looks greedy, especially when the servers are saying they too have to pay. Luckily I had cash, but to a savvy customer, that leaves a bad taste.I suspect the owners are profiting just fine without requiring customers to cover their banking expenses.

When Fine Dining Becomes Finer In years past Marina Grog & Galley had been our go-to special occasion restaurant for those times calling for exceptional service, food, presentation, atmosphere, and views. It had the feeling of a well used pair of comfortable shoes with its worn wood and old leather, while still providing a fine dining experience. Very "old school" lakeside. But as the fishing shacks and weekend cottages gave way to the mini mansions covering the Lake Lottawana shore, Marina Grog & Galley transformed into a modern rendering of finer dining by the lake: Marina 27 Steak & Seafood. Everywhere you look, from the clean new signage along Lakeshore Drive, to the clean modern lines of the bar and its up-to-date cocktail menu, into the newly renovated dining room, and ending up on the inviting patio, the feeling is now upscale modern with a respect for fine living. Considering the realities of the current COVID era, we held off on checking the new look out until this past Valentine's Day, were not disappointed - we were impressed! Showing up a bit early for our 4:00 pm reservation, we understandably when to the bar while our table was readied. Settling in we noticed familiar faces from the original Marina on the wait staff, and one of our favorite Lee's Summit restaurant that had gone through a miraculous relaunch into excellence. A very comforting welcome. Receiving a text that our table was ready, we headed to the dining room. We were met at our pefectly set table by a server who had waited on our table on anniversaries in the past. Warm memories are the finest appetizers. We opted for their $99 Valentine's Day Special for two: Appetizer, soup / salad, entree (surf or turf), and desert. Our appetizer included very tasty sausage and cheeses, salads were fresh and inviting (some of the best blue cheese dressing around), steaks were broiled to perfection along with a very good crab offering, toped off with creamy cheesecake! Their wine list is complete with good affordable wines, and top shelf offerings to complement your palette. Great service from reservations through dining and desert, lake views you cannot find anywhere in the city, food that can stand up to any you might find under the most famous marquees, and an atmosphere that reminds you that you do deserve to be treated to the best. Recommendation: For a special dinner, a relaxing luncheon / happy hour, fun evening (one night a week they do feature live music), Sunday brunch, or just a get away, Marina 27 should be near the top of your lunch. COVID-19 Considerations: Customers and staff required to wear masks while not seated and eating, selected staff required to wear gloves, social distancing required, tables are sanitized after each use, single use menus, hand sanitizer provided, curbside delivery, and outside dining.
