What a hidden gem just a couple blocks from the main tourist stretch! It took us a few tries to find this place as downtown Ponta Delgada is riddled with one-way streets and tight, TIGHT corridors. But the third time was a charm and we pulled right up to the alley, parked and went in for a feast. The owner was lovely, the service was on point, and the selection of meat and cheese we ordered hit the spot (the menu is pretty extensive with a number of seafood dishes and tapas available for order, as well). I love that they also have a market to pick up specialty items; we bought a selection of craft beers to take back to our hotel with us--after 10 days in Portugal and Sagres on tap everywhere and nothing else, it was great to finally find some variety!
Service was good and most of the tapas we ordered were okay (not amazing), we haven't tried wine. However, I wasn't happy with the fact that they brought us bread basket without asking then charged for it, not even good bread - couple of pieces of fresh bread and the rest crackers.... also charged for the most expensive cheese board we did not order. They were nice enough to adjust our bill, but we were still a little disappointed.
We went during lunch and it was empty. We ordered wine, the mixed meat/cheese plate with the little burner to melt the cheese, and a few tapas. Everything was delicious and all 4 of us ate until we were full. The bill was 55euros. The service was great and they humored us as we attempted to speak Portuguese.  Definitely recommend it after a redeye flight from JFK.
