Cantina da Praça was a great detour! We left the hotel late to look for a place to have dinner, we went to Urca and received news of a “closed kitchen” just hours before the time stated on the pages and my friend remembered the Cantina recommendation she saw on social media. We arrived at 10pm and were very well received by all the attentive and polite staff. The large intestine was already eating the thin one with so much hunger so we went straight to the main one, we were both seduced by the fettuccine with mushrooms – and won over by it when we ate it! They filled my plate with cheese and I loved it, hahahah. I asked for a red wine recommendation to go with it and the waiter was spot on. For dessert, a mini carioca pie – a little too sweet for my taste at that moment, perhaps due to the contrast after the wine. Warm and cozy atmosphere, I believe it is a “typical Carioca” environment not very aimed at tourists, good for gathering close friends, family and romantic dates. The kitchen closes at 11pm but the restaurant only closes at midnight – and we didn’t feel “kicked out” at any point. For those from Belém, I believe it is their La Traviata – in my experience, superior. I intend to return!
