Lunched here for my husband’s birthday. Definitely a place to mark special occasions: the table next to us was celebrating a 90th bithday. We chose the lunch menus des affaires as an affordable way of eating here, at 57 or 70 Euros. Quite simply, a meal to remember. Food and wine excellent. Table and swirly seats really comfortable. . Both starters and main courses excellent. All the extras, the amuse bouche and pre-coffee dessert were real treats. Service (from mainly v. young but well trained and motivated staff) was charming, professional and informed. Decor and ambience very elegant and traditional with a modern twist. Pace very relaxed: we sat down at 1pm and left after coffee at 3:45pm, perfect for a late autumn walk along the Rhône. La Mere Brazier is the sort of place you’ll want to go back to again and again, and what makes Lyon so special. Already planning our next trip.
It ain't cheap, but you probably already knew that - 2 Michelin stars rarely is (though check out La Pyramide a bit south in Vienne which is great and more reasonable though certainly a different experience). Here you'll get options including old school, with some twists, executed perfectly. Great service, amazing Champagnes by the glass, great overall wine list, cheese board, and gluttony. It's possible to gain about 5 pounds from a single meal here. Foie gras, pike mousse, sweetbreads, and it goes on. We were seated on the main level which may be the "lesser" dining room but surrounded by original tile, artifacts, and the kitchen is fine by me. It's worth a splurge if you wish, but be prepared for a bill that's likely to approach or exceed 500 Euros for 2 people depending on your wine choices. Still pretty much worth it if your budget allows. Once in a long while...
Impeccable service. food is good, cozy atmosphere, private room dining. Superb
