I am generally fairly understanding with bad food, this place has got to be one of the worst I have had in recent years... if you staying at the mirage please get some food from woolies or go across the road to the Chinese restaurant.
Located in the middle of the resort with an awkward entrance via the pool deck, this establishment offers the promise of a wonderful view with a lovely breakfast. If you bypass the sign at the first stairwell, you can continue down the driveway and use the next stairs to skip the pool. If you continue down the road, you can exit the resort via the boardwalk and if you do, you'll see a lovingly maintained garden and thoroughfare.Opening hours on the website are out of date, but eventually we managed to arrive during actual trading hours, which on further discussion seemed to vary regularly. We understand that dinner will be served in the same location from October 2019, because it's moving from upstairs on 1 September. The first question we received was: "What is your room number?" We weren't staying at the resort, so that was unexpected, and perhaps an indication of what was to come. The breakfast is presented as a buffet, with sliced and tinned fruit, yoghurt and cereals to one side, bowl of hard boiled eggs in the middle, sausage, hash brown, bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes to the other side. There's a selection of sliced bread and a conveyor toaster. Coffee and tea from thermos flasks and juice from glass service fountains - think glass office water cooler bottle. For $25 per person you can serve yourself. The coffee, essential for a start to the day for most, was burnt and stale, the scrambled eggs were congealed, sausage was nice, hash brown cold, tomatoes and mushrooms uninspiring, the fresh fruit was sliced with the skin on, fresh and tasty. Turns out that you can also buy a coffee from $3.50, per the scrawled sign at the till, we resisted the temptation.Crockery was cheap, glassware was plastic, melamine tables, steel chairs - not as uncomfortable as that sounds. The view consisted of a glimpse of the bay, but only if you sat at the right table. If travel in the 1990’s was your thing, you'll have seen many variations of this kind of hotel Bain-marie experience the world over.Based on the many wonderful establishments in the region, eat here if you're starving and have money to burn. Not recommended.
Incredible location, atmosphere, excellent food and service.
