Recently visited family in Darwin and couldn't find anywhere in Casuarina area for a good coffee, tried Hibiscus Shopping Centre in Leanyer, multiple cafes in Casuarina Square and not one of these cafes could make a soy latte warm properly let alone taste great, I nearly gave up until a chance recommendation from Georges Mobile shop in Darwin CBD who recommended me to Monica's Cafe up the road so I figured what have I got to lose, I'm glad I did because not only were the sfaff super friendly on arrival and during the service, the coffee was HEAVENLY!!! If you want GREAT COFFEE not the watered down dish water, GO TO MONICA'S CAFE in the CBD, forget Casuarina or Leanyer. Service: Take out Meal type: Other Price per person: A$1–20

I have to walk past this café every morning in order to get to work, so I used to always grab a toastie on the way.

However, that stopped quite dramatically. The same customers sit outside of the front of the café each day, old enough to be my grandpa (and I have gone to school with some of their family members - it's Darwin).

Each morning, they call out "Beautiful" or make you incredibly uncomfortable by perversely checking one out. Today, I made a comment back much to their verbal dismay, which only seemed to encourage them more to double-down on the same type of behaviour. My female colleagues have said much of the same.

Aside from this, these same customers are always smoking out the front of the café. Not exactly appealing to a customer looking to buy food.

A business cannot (necessarily) be held accountable for the actions of their customers, but a business can most certainly be held accountable for not doing anything about it.

When Rays Café is around the corner and Rabbit Hole Café is 500m away, allowing these men to drive away faithful customers is a shot in the foot. And, being Darwin, stories like this discourage workplace colleagues from wanting to do their coffee/brekkie trips to this café as well.

A simple solution would be: Tell these customers to shape up, or go somewhere else.

And proof that it works: Whenever there is a female security guard having her coffee outside in the morning, they stop being perverts.

This café is a melting pot of great food, service and culture, and it's sad that this is how it is now known. No amount of rebranding or renovations will fix this.

For now: I will continue my journey past this café, but no longer will I grab my breakfast here and I will most definitely heckle your creepy customers back just like they do to any women that so much as breathes. Not a good look, Honey Puff Café.

I look forward to seeing something be done.
