Fantastic! Gyoza was incredible, great Ahi with a little kick, and the boar linguine was out of this world! Small so be sure to make a reservation. Drinks and food took a little while, but worth the wait!
After a long day of four back to back roller derby games, my friends and I needed a delicious meal with equally tasty cocktails. Having heard about and seen many pictures of the food and beverages at Moon &Turtle, we decided to try to get in at 7:30 pm on a Thursday night without reservations. There were two available tables and we were seated quickly. Menus and water were brought over and my friends and I quickly decided on food. Cocktails took longer because they offered some unique options. I settled on a Calamansi Sour, one friend had a beer and the third friend had a Sour Sop cocktail. For food we chose the Smokey Ahi Sashimi, Crispy Chow Fun and the Market Fish Dish. The Ahi Sashimi, I cannot speak highly enough of this dish. The fish was incredibly fresh and in a Soy/Oil Sauce with a hint of chili. The Crispy Chow Fun had a five spice and mustard sauce that worked kind of like a gravy, leaving the noodles crunchy but not dry. The Market Fish was mahi mahi and it was served with gnocchi...tasty! Dessert, after all that food, I thought we wouldn't need dessert, but our server told us about Lilikoi Cream Pie and we immediately agreed to share a slice. The service was fantastic and I would highly recommend Moon & Turtle to anyone looking for a creative restaurant with a rotating menu.
After two weeks in the Hilo area, we stumbled upon Moon And Turtle, and couldn't be happier.  First impressions we had upon entering was, this is a comfortable atmosphere.  We didn't have reservations (you should make them) but the host pointed us to the small, but comfortable bar.  We were promptly met with a lovely lady who took our drink order and told us about the food.  Family style, and she made suggestions and answered our questions.  We ordered the Salty Fish Fried Rice, Ahi Belly Salad from the small serving menu, and the Crispy Chow Fun from the large side.  For two people this was the perfect size.  All three dishes were delicious.  The owner/chef, Mark, arrived and offered us some of his chilli oil hot sauce to enhance the dishes.   If you are in the Hilo area, do yourself a favour and have dinner here.  You will not be disappointed.
