When Travelzoo came out with a promotion for a $100 lunch voucher at Moonraker for the price of $75, I had to hop on it! We made reservations on Yelp for a 12 pm lunch which is the time they opened and there was already a crowd out the door. Note that the restaurant is upstairs on the 2nd floor of the hotel. You can either take the stairs or the elevator to make your way on up. When the door opened, it felt like a scene in Titanic. As you walk in, there's a pianist setting the ambiance with lovely music; the dark wood giving that old ship feel. And straight ahead is a wall full of windows looking out to the Pacific Ocean. What a sight. We were seated in a booth facing the window. If you're able to snag it, the booths are the best seats in the house. We ordered the following: ~ Seafood pasta (5/5) - squid ink noodles cooked al dente in a sauce that has all the flavors of the sea. This dish was a winner. Tip: Ask for some red pepper flakes and parm. They don't provide this upfront. ~ Coconut prawns (3.5/5) - The entree had a total of 6 large prawns which is such a good value for the price paid ($35). It sat on top of mashed potatoes which made for a really filling dish. I am knocking a couple points as the batter on the shrimp was thick. The whole dish was just dense to me. I would've liked to see this paired with rice instead. ~ Crab cakes (5/5) - loved these! They were light and airy and not overly breaded. You can actually taste and see the chunks of crab. ~ Siren Song (5/5) - if Ursula offered Little Mermaid this drink, I'm sure she'd say yes. This drink is refreshing and is a perfect starter to your meal. ~ Espresso Martini (4/5) - this drink is not on the main menu. I'm sure you can ask for it, but we found this on the dessert menu. The espresso martini that Moonraker whips up is on the sweeter end than most.
