The food, the decor, the staff, and the overall experience of dining here is great. So many options for fans of savory or sweet breakfast items, as well as a reasonable lunch menu. You can tell there is a focus on quality here, and the mix of southwest and traditional American fare means there’s something for everyone. A must-try for breakfast fans. We stopped by the Morning Star Cafe on the way back from visit in a local University with our son. We thought that Grand Traverse was a very cute town and the Morning Star Cafe absolutely DELIGHTFUL. We had to wait approximately fifteen minutes for a table .. seats at the bar came open within just a few minutes- but we chose to wait for a table. I thought that was quite reasonable on a weekend morning. The decor was eclectic and cute, the booths were quite comfortable, music was really good ... though a bit loud when trying to engage in conversation. The coffee fantastic, the menu had so many options that it was difficult to choose... but we really enjoyed our meal and I'm certain that we would have enjoyed if we had decided to go with our second choices (ended up with omelettes and French toast with sides. Our waitress, Kendall, was positively human sunshine. Delightful and attentive without being overbearing and maintained her positive and professional demeanor in dealing with customers sitting at the booth next to us who seemed to have gotten up on the cranky side of the bed that morning (note - service and food won them over by the end of the meal as well - we aren't usually eavesdroppers ... these folks were just very loud. So, if our delightful son chooses to attend GVSU... the Morning Star Cafe will be a regular stop for us during visits. Highly recommended and be sure to say "hello," to Kendall!!
