I have visited No.19 many times in the past and have always enjoyed my meals. I recently went with a friend and tried the new menu, which just impressed me beyond what I was expecting! The cafe is on a gorgeous and busy street. On the day we visited, they were actually celebrating their birthday, so there were balloons and cake, which was such an exciting atmosphere! The interior is modern and chic, with lots of accomodating tables. We ordered the Brown Rice Bowl, which is a dish I plan to come back and eat over and over again! I didn't think much when I ordered it really but the first bite just shocked me... it was incredible! The salmon was fresh with a hint of citrus to it and came with avocado, sautéed spinach and a poached egg. There was a dressing over the dish that complimented it so well. We also ordered the Strawberry Fields and it was so refreshing, light and full of flavour. It came with a toasted meringue, which was sweet but balanced well with the strawberries. Then, the showstopper... prosecco jelly! I couldn't stop eating it. The different combinations were just perfect together.Lastly, we had the Superfood Salad. This was a huge bowl of delicious greens, hummus and massive pieces of halloumi. It was light and perfect for the warm day we visited on.We were served by Olivia who was incredibly attentive and helpful. She also went out of her way to have a chat with us, which was lovely. Thank you!
Both my wife and I think this could be one of the best breakfast's that we have had in sometime. Freshing and something new. It gets busy here but we will be back for sure. Great place highly recommended.
I’m always hunting for great breakfast spots. It doesn’t happen to be my favourite meal of the day so have to make it interesting. No. 19 knows how to do that just.
A cute little cafe standing in the middle of Ascot Vale’s busiest street, it knows how to catch your attention. From the minute you walk in, you feel so warm and welcomed. The decor is absolutely stunning. The concept was an elegant, timeless space inspired by the Greek delicatessens that flourished around Melbourne in the 1950s.
It was a late Friday morning so I didn’t expect it to be packed(people are supposed to be working)but it was bustling with people yet service was brilliant.
I ordered the ‘Nutberry’ and ‘Breakfast Carbonara’ to keep me satisfied. The Nutberry is a great option alone but I was a bit too greedy. It’s filled with all things good for the body- raspberry, banana, peanut butter, nectar and almond milk. So refreshing and great way to start the morning.
While I sat there finishing assignments, I decided to order the ‘Breakfast Carbonara and it was the best decision ever!! I’m one of those who are so Italian at heart. I can eat pasta for every meal and never get sick of it. The carbonara was rich, creamy and full of bold flavours. I absolutely adored that handmade al dente pappardelle that was tossed with crispy pancetta, Parmesan, parsley and black garlic, finally finished off with a fried egg. The portions are huge. I couldn’t even finish it. The staff was super friendly and make you feel at home.
I’ll definitely be going back for more!!
I love the story behind the name of the cafe. No.19 doesn’t refer to the cafe’s street number, but something a little more sentimental – the age the Carusos met and the date their son was born.
