Very interesting menu. We got there for pranzo at 2:15 and there was only one other couple there and soon we were the only ones there. Amazingly slow service. It took forever for the antipasto to arrive but it was delicious. Zucchini stuffed with something super yummy. Then another wait. The menu said ravioli stuffed with burrata but it was ricotta- a disappointment. The beef cheeks were scrumptious. Good Prosecco and vino rosso. We won’t go back though.
Service was good.  Cooking was pretty uneven on the pretentious side.  I.e very salty risotto, dry "chestnut puff w deer etc", undercooked white beans but excellent veal cheeks, somewhat dry suckling pig... oh well.
We were certainly not expecting a modern restaurant in the heart of Sienna but much to our surprise, Numero Unico was just that. Now, just because it was good looking doesn't mean the food was good but yet, that was our second surprise. The food was heavenly. The location was right by the Duomo, just a block or two away. The service was prompt and by Italian standards, quite quick. This did not seem like a tourist trap restaurant, it was a place where the owner cares about the food, the presentation of it and the service of their customers. Glad we stopped in.
