Upon entering O'Shea's we were first hit up for a $5.00 per person cover charge for the band. Look, I understand cover charges in bar and nightclubs when you are going out for drinks and dancing, but NOT at a restaurant you are going to for a holiday meal. Would think the ownership would spring for the cost of the entertainment, especially on St Patrick's Day, as a thank you it's patrons. Cost me $15.00 right out of the gate and we hadn't even been seated yet.
As to being seated, we had to search for our hostess. Once she was located we were led to a back room where staff had to relocate the band's stored guitar cases and coats in order to set up a table and chairs for us to have our meal at.
Our waiter was fantastic and very polite and attentive to our needs and in ordering, and always had a smile. Our meal of Corn Beef & Cabbage was OUTSTANDING!!! Hats off to the Chef. The corn beef was cooked to perfection and so tender you could cut it with your fork. The potatoes, carrots, and cabbage were also cooked to perfection.
Upon completion of our meal, and while awaiting the check from our waiter, we were approached by a staff member and asked if we could relocate to the bar while finishing up our Guinnesses and waiting for our check so they could seat another patron waiting for a table. I politely refused, and advised that as soon as I received the check for our meal, we would kindly pay and leave.
In summary: The Hosting and General Restaurant Staff were TERRIBLE, the Waiter was great, and the Chef/Meal was OUTSTANDING. Would I return as a customer to O'Shea's or recommend O'Shea's to others? Absolutely not. I will definitely find another location to celebrate St. Patrick's Day next year with my family.
