We tried fish tacos and seafood stew. Both dishes are delicious and fresh. I I definately want to try some more dishes when I am in town.
We went here today on our trip into Newport, we were going to the cider festival but decided to go into the harbor in Newport instead. On the way we stopped at Ocean Bleu. I was impressed by the vintage nautical decor around the building with all the distresses buoys hanging from the exterior and into the garden seating. The food was great at least what I had, a mariner's stew with seafood, however delicious it was it was not very hearty. It was sparse and not generous had it been more abundant I would say excellent especially seasoning but if one was hungry as I was a large bowl felt slim. The waitress was sweet and made us feel welcome.
For our anniversary, my fiancé took me down to Newport's Bay Front to get some quality seafood. After walking down the strip and finding nothing open past 4, we discovered this little gem. It was warm and inviting - decorated in the eclectic beach comber style. The wait staff was eager to serve and their smiles contagious. I learned Gino passed away in 2007, and Ocean Bleu stepped in to save the restaurant. The popcorn shrimp recipe is made with Gino's original recipe - so I had to try it! Man oh man was it scrumptious! First of all, the serving size was HUGE. I had to get a box for leftovers which is a rare occurrence cuz we all know I love to eat. Second, the fries were in chip shape and seasoned perfectly. Third, the shrimp itself was golden and amazing. The perfect amount of crunch with the shrimp practically melting in your mouth. I suggest dipping the shrimp in the slaw that comes with it for a nice marriage of flavors. My fiancé got the BBQ Tuna Sandwich. The bbq sauce didn't overpower the excellent taste of the tuna itself and he was quite pleased with it. We already made plans to bring our parents next time we are all in town.
